Swedish research funding doesn't care about gender. Right.

The Swedish Research Council have decided who wil get grants next year. The good news is that 32 % of the proposals got funded. That's an increase from previous years due to more available funding and fewer proposals.

Here are the bad news; 33.5 % of the proposals submitted by male researchers were funded whereas only 25.7 % of proposals submitted by women. One explanation is apparently that funding for male-dominated areas have increased this year.

  1. Vetenskapsrådet definitely has a looong way to go! But have you seen the stats of the results of the 1st stage of the ERC's Starting Grant Competition? Barely 20% in the life sciences are women. And there's still another round of evaluation!
