Dirty dishes - just can't stand it

I don't really mind people not cleaning the floors or dust off shelves, but a thick layer of grease on every glass, plate, piece of cutlery and all used pots and pans? I have experienced both the worst and the best (human) dishwasher ever through subletting my flat the last six months.
